Intro

Strolling through Naples: Art, Beach, Underground and Pizza! This is the fourth exciting suggestion for an unforgettable walk through Naples – a city full of contrasts and fascinating places. This time, we begin with capital-A Art – we’ll visit the Capodimonte Museum, home to the impressive collection of Charles of Bourbon, gathered by the royal family since the 16th century. But Capodimonte is not only world-class art – it also boasts a beautiful, green park offering spectacular views over Naples.

Next, we’ll travel back in time to the mysterious underground world of the Catacombs of San Gennaro, a remarkable complex of early Christian burial chambers and subterranean chapels. It’s a fascinating place that reveals the city’s hidden history buried deep beneath its streets.

Returning to the city center, we’ll stroll down the lively Via Toledo. Then, we’ll take a short detour uphill to the picturesque Vomero hill with the Sant’Elmo Castle, and from there, follow the charming Via Chiaia to Napoli Sotterranea, descending below the surface once again to uncover more of Naples’ underground secrets.

Our next stop is the symbolic Piazza dei Martiri, famous for its column surrounded by four majestic lions, each symbolizing important moments in the city’s history. Continuing our walk through the green oasis of Villa Comunale, we’ll reach the Antique Aquarium and the scenic Mappatella beach.

This walk is a perfect choice for a sunny day – the route is easy and pleasant, and with a few short rides on public transport, you’ll save energy and time to spend in museums or tasting authentic Neapolitan pizza!
