Discover our second enchanting walk through Belem! We start at the majestic Ajuda Royal Palace, located on the highest hill. A convenient bus ride will take us there. Our tour begins with the grand XIX-century rooms, followed by a visit to the Royal Treasury, where you’ll see a 20-kilogram gold nugget from Brazil among other treasures.
From the palace, we’ll stroll down a charming street lined with houses adorned with azulejos tiles, heading towards the river. Our next stop is the Carriage Museum, featuring royal carriages and historic fire engines. We then visit the Presidency Museum, dedicated to the rich and tumultuous history of the Portuguese Republic.
A must-stop is for the delicious Belem pastries! Enjoy them in a café or take them to go. We’ll catch a glimpse of the beautiful Jeronimos Monastery (a stroll that includes the Monastery 🔗 here) before heading back to Afonso de Albuquerque Park to savor our pastries.
We end our walk at the MAAT Museum. Explore the historical building of the former power station and the modern structure designed by Amanda Levete. Finally, we stroll through the Maat Garden to the tram stop of line 15, taking us back to the metro at Rossio Square.🥇🏁
